she had already filed for divorce

When Michelle and her husband came to us, they had already filed for divorce.

The affair had shattered everything, traditional therapy hadn't moved the needle, and she'd reached a breaking point.

In her words: "I tried keeping tabs on him as much as I could and it was driving me even more crazy. It just became too much and I couldn't figure out how to trust him again."

She was done, or at least she thought she was.

But something in her wasn't ready to close the door without trying one more thing.

Not more therapy, but a completely different approach, one that started with calming her nervous system before trying to fix the marriage.

That nervous-system-first approach is exactly what I walk through in a training called Beyond The Betrayal, but let me show you what it looked like for Michelle.

Traditional counseling often jumps straight to communication tools and forgiveness conversations while your brain is still in full threat-detection mode.

It's like trying to renovate a house while it's on fire, doesn't matter how good the contractor is.

We put the fire out first by regulating the body and restoring a sense of internal safety, and THEN we rebuild.

That changed everything for Michelle.

There was no single dramatic moment, but slowly, as she learned to regulate her body and communicate differently, trust started coming back.

Not the fragile, walking-on-eggshells kind where you're still scanning for threats, but real trust built on actually feeling safe again.

Here's what she shared after doing the work:

"I have full trust in him. Our connection is so strong at this point that I would never worry about him looking elsewhere for anything. We actually solve challenges as they come up, without fighting or avoiding. We're stronger and happier than when we were first married."

A woman who had filed for divorce and couldn't figure out how to trust again is saying she's stronger and happier than when they first got married.

I'm not sharing this to claim your story will look exactly like hers, because every marriage is different and every woman's healing path is her own.

But I do want you to know that the place you're in at this moment, however painful, however hopeless, is not where your story has to end.

Michelle didn't start with hope, she started with one step.I put together a recorded workshop called Beyond The Betrayal to walk you through what that step actually looks like, and it’s of no charge.

Warmly,

Shawn 💛
