You Knew Before You Knew

And how badly you hoped you were wrong.
So you kept moving, telling yourself it was just anxiety, just the kind of fear that comes with loving someone this much.
And then you found out.
Every single thing you talked yourself out of came rushing back, because you knew the whole time.
Now the hardest part isn't even what he did.
It's that you stopped trusting the one person who was trying to protect you all along. Yourself.
And that is the part that breaks my heart the most.
Your instincts were never broken.
They were working perfectly the entire time.
What happened is that every time you brought up that feeling and he explained it away, he wasn't just lying to you.
He was teaching you not to trust yourself.
Over and over, until the voice got so quiet you stopped hearing it altogether.
That voice is still there.
She didn't leave.
She just needs enough quiet and gentleness to come back through.
Five small, guided steps to help your body settle enough that you can finally hear yourself again.
Because she was trying to protect you then.
And she will protect you again.
Warmly,
Shawn 💛
P.S. If you've been second-guessing every feeling you have lately, wondering if you can even trust what you sense anymore, reply and tell me what's been coming up. I read every single one.
